Psalm 5 is a morning prayer written by David. David begins his day by asking God to hear his prayer and guide him.
David asks God to listen to his words and pay attention to his cries. He says that he will pray to God in the morning and wait expectantly for God's answer.
David knows that God is holy. He understands that God does not approve of wickedness, lies, pride, or evil actions.
David says that evil people cannot simply come into God's presence and behave as they please. He describes people who lie, deceive, and hurt others.
But David does not want to live like them. He says that because of God's great love, he can come into God's presence and worship Him.
David asks God to guide him along the right path because his enemies are watching him and looking for opportunities to harm him.
He asks God to make His way clear so that he will know what is right and avoid the wrong path.
David also asks God to protect him from people who use lies and harmful words against others.
The psalm ends with joy and hope. David says that people who trust God can rejoice because God protects and blesses them.
He compares God's favour to a shield that surrounds His people.
This chapter teaches us to begin our day with God. We should pray for His guidance, choose the right path, and trust Him to protect us.
